Rendelsham Event Report - February 2005

'REVVED UP REVETT'

New member Stephen Revett mastered Rendleshan Forest with eight laps to win D Class and overall top points scorer. He showed his expert skills on the 11 mile course riding a 250 Husqvarna, he set a scorching pace with a 28.14 minute lap. He was followed home by Gene Womack on a Vertemati E501 with seven laps closely followed by Michael Hall on a Yamaha WR400 also with seven laps.

A Class was won by Mike Larkin on his faithful Yamaha XT250 on five laps, second was John Wraight on his Suzuki SP400 thumper on five laps also and third went to Inigo Kidd on another ageing XT250. Well done chaps for hanging on to those old but reliable machines.

Stephen Jackson took the honours in B Class on his Honda CRM250 with Carl Chapman second on a XLR125R both on five laps and yougster Sam Carver got third place on his DT125R, keep it up Sam!

Roger Scott won the C Class on his recently purchased KTM200 a good christening for him and his bike in their first event of the year. Hot on his heels and in second place was Trevor Bale on his Honda CRM250 both riders completing six laps. Third place went to Gary Bransgrove on his KTM200.

On eight laps and the second fastest lap of the day(29.28 minutes) was Peter Cook on his KTM200exc. Second was Phil Grimwood on his Yamaha WRF250 followed home by Paul Rowlatt in third on a Honda CRX250 both completing seven laps respectively.

The Veteran Class winner( who is the oldest teenager in TBEC) was Brian Barratt on his KTM125exc, he used this event to run in his new bike gently and still managed seven laps!!! In second place was Maurice Smith on a Gas Gas EC200 and in third was Ben Pope on a Husaberg FE450E both completing six laps.

With cold northerly winds blowing and the threat of sleet and snow showers looming it was not only a cold start for the bikes but also for the competitors, but once everybody was riding they soon warmed up. The track comprised of mostly forest with some tight twisty areas but there were also a few fast sections, this track was not one to have any lapses of concentration. The odd tree stump was ready and waiting and if not avoided you were soon out of control. With 180 entrants and 156 finishers this event was a huge success for TBEC and gave all the competitors an excellent days racing. Finally we must not forget to thank Dave Roberts (chairman) Roy Sadd (committee member) Brian Barratt (TBEC No. 23) and all those that helped to set up the course.
