'YER BUT NO BUT' THE BUTTS
TBEC made its annual trip to Ashover in Derbeyshire for their second round of the 2005 championship. The 2 man event, as always, was tough with its notorious steep climbs and descents, not to mention the numerous roots which were exposed and very slippery. Although a picturesque venue, the weather was mostly dull and overcast with the odd light shower. With 5 hours to negotiate between two riders at this gruelling event at least one competitor had time to rest whilst his partner rode. This event had its biggest turnout of members since TBEC began to use this venue with 170 entered and 140 finishers this proved to be yet another huge success for TBEC. The results are compiled as an overall list but the points tally from the meeting will go towards the individual riders championship. Overall winners were Peter Cook(165) and Glen Baker(382) who set the pace with an outstanding 38 laps between them although they did not manage the fastest lap of the day. Second place went to Andy Childs(5) and Lewis Scanlon(111) who ended up with 36 laps between them. Third place and the fastest lap of the day went to Graham Albrecht(9) and Darren Hall(575) who achieved 35 laps. Finally the day started with the award ceremony for the 2004 championships which was hurried through due to the weather and also the necessity of starting the race on time. Hopefully next year the awards will be handed out at a more refined location with drinks, buffet and overnight camping available.Dave Roberts 380 (Chairman) will be looking into this further. The Kate Hutchins Shield was awarded to Dave Roberts this year for his hard work and committed services to TBEC and just to let you know he is proud and honoured to have been given this shield, which was donated to the club by Kate's parents after her untimely passing in a road accident.Well members on to our next venue which is on 10th April at Blewbury-see you all there.
